Movie Magic Scheduling ver 3.7 - Tutorial

| Creating, Opening and Saving Schedule | Using the Breakdown Sheet |

Creating, Opening, and Saving a Schedule : The first step in beginning Movie Magic Scheduling is creating a schedule. You can either open a new one, or open a schedule already created.

1. Creating a New Schedule

  • From the File menu select New. A secondary menu appears
  • You can either create your schedule from the default form or from a form you have created
    a) If you choose From Default form, a new scheduling file will open
    b) If you choose Pick a Form, a window displays allowing you to choose the form you wish to use. This is generally a form that you created with custom categories, reports, and strips
  • Adding production Information
From the Design menu, select Picture Info. A dialog box will appear. Enter all the appropriate information for the film here, (Title, Director, Company, etc) using Tab to move from field to field

2. Importing Script Information from a Scriptwriting Software

  • Follow the instructions in your Scriptwriting application to export the information into Movie Magic Scheduling. The file should save with a .sex extension
  • Follow the procedure in step one Creating a New Schedule
  • From the File menu, select Import. A dialog box will appear. Navigate to the folder where the .sex file was saved, and click open. Movie Magic Scheduling will populate the data tagged in the Scriptwriting software.

3. Opening a previously created schedule

  • From the File menu, select open and a dialog box will appear. Navigate to the folder that the schedule was saved to. It should have an .mms extension. Highlight the file and select open. Your Movie Magic Scheduling should now have the working schedule with fields populated

4. Saving a File: After inputting the film information and creating your first breakdown it’s a good idea to save and name the file.

  • Saving an unsaved file: From the File menu select Save As. A dialog box will appear prompting you to save the file in a folder. In the File name field, it will have Untitled. Name the file and click save
  • Saving a previously saved file: From the File menu select save. The file will save automatically
  • Renaming a previously saved file: From File menu, select Save As and rename the file in question. This is a good idea to do from time to time creating a back up schedule
